To recap some of our most recent events, I want to thank everyone who attended WITS Meet Your Rep in November. Glen Sanders Mansion worked out so well, it has been rebooked as the WITS Meet Your Rep venue again next year. Please save the date, November 7th. Contact your favorite wholesale partners, tourist boards, cruise lines, hoteliers and travel-related businesses.
Meet Your Rep 2011 had 10 afternoon workshops and 38 vendors in attendance. We anticipate this continued participation - and then some for 2012. The board will be actively seeking a luncheon sponsor. Previously, we have had Globus Tours, Visit Florida and Sandals/Beaches Resorts. Would you have a contact who may like to sponsor next year’s Meet Your Rep Luncheon? Please let us know!
Our WITS February Fam trip to Ireland didn’t work out as planned, but Janet Dudley, VP of WITS, was able to offer it on a national level. All who participated had a marvelous time.
Sweetheart Destinations, our February meeting, was held at Moscatiello’s in Troy. We were able to learn more about a some of New York State's prestigious hotels:
Geneva Inn on the Lake, where Bill and Hillary Clinton, visited as guests.
Mirror Lake Inn, Lake Placid-AAA Four Diamond Small Luxury Hotel
The Otesaga Resort in Historic Cooperstown - A perfect retreat for group travel.
Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa - Not only a hotel, but a host to a lavish spa with mineral springs treatments.
The island of Barbados was well represented by Eussie Skeete. He gave a comprehensive tour of the island via power point. Did you know that Barbados is outside the hurricane belt?
Our next meeting is March 14 at River Stone Manor. Janet Dudley will head up the meeting and will showcase Italy with a variety of wholesalers, including a couple that are new to the Capital Region.
Our April Meeting, “Magic Carpet Ride” will showcase Dubai - and more.
May’s meeting is going to bring us to the “South Pacific” region, one of my personal favorites!
Once again, please spread the word to your travel industry friends and partners, to join or renew their memberships.
Your attendance at our meetings is crucial in order to provide suppliers’ participation and the ability to guarantee a venue for our meetings. Our meetings face a lot of challenges these days (finding participating vendors for meetings, negotiating meal and venue costs, etc.), but we do our best to provide you with unique educational evenings at quality locations - and we appreciate your attendance!
